Woman who died at home tested positive for coronavirus

An elderly woman who died with fever and nose sore at Mahakali in Munshiganj’s Sadar upazila on Tuesday had been found to be infected with COVID-19, said, Sadar upazila nirbahi officer Faruk Ahmed.

He said the 65-year-old woman died after returning home from Narayanganj.

On information, the authorities collected samples from the body and sent those to the IEDCR in Dhaka for test, he said, adding that the samples were tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday.

Those who came in contact with the woman had already been asked to maintain home-quarantine. Other steps will be taken if necessary, added the UNO.

A total of 24 people have so far been diagnosed with coronavirus in the district while the country’s total confirmed cases are 1,572 until Thursday.

Bangladesh recorded 60 deaths from the virus infection.
