Youth held for ‘derogatory remarks’ against PM Hasina on Facebook

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members on Tuesday detained a young man from Noyamati Muslim Para in Fatulla upazila of Narayanganj on allegations of posting derogatory remarks against the government and prime minister on social networking site, Facebook.

The arrested was identified as Azizur Rahman of Jajira upazila in Shariatpur district, reports news agency UNB.

Tipped off, a team of RAB-11 conducted a drive in the area and arrested him in the morning, said RAB-11 commanding officer lieutenant colonel Imran Ullah Sarkar.

After primary interrogation, RAB said the man had long been involved in posting anti-government status on his Facebook page under the name ‘Sayed MD Azizur Rahman’.
