New virus cases below 2,500 as only 10,625 samples tested

Bangladesh has reported 37 more deaths from coronavirus while 2,459 more people have been newly diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Additional director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Nasima Sultana, said this during a regular online briefing on Sunday.

The death toll now stands at 2,618 and the latest figures take the total number of infections in the country to 204,525, according to the briefing.

Bangladesh first reported death from coronavirus on 18 March while the first case was confirmed on 8 March.

She also said a total of 10,625 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 2,459 were diagnosed with coronavirus.

Across the country 1,544 more patients made recovery, Nasima Sultana said adding that so far 111,642 people have recovered from the deadly disease.

She said among the 37 victims who died in the past 24 hours 29 were men while 8 were women.

She also said a total of 10,625 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 2,459 were diagnosed with coronavirus.
