Have you ever heard of passing examinations without appearing in them?

In fact, a student came out successful in the primary education completion (PEC) in Mathbaria upazila without appearing even for a single paper of the exams. And the girl was given 4.67 GPA (grade point average).

The girl, who is not being named as she is still a minor, was enrolled with Andharmanik Government Primary School.

However, another student, who appeared in the exams, was shown to have failed. He is a student of No. 50 Angulkata Government Primary School. The boy cannot enrol in class VI due to this 'failure', said his father who claimed that his son would not fail.

Asked about this, upazila education officer Ruhul Amin told Prothom Alo that it is a mistake. "The mistake took place for technical glitches and we're trying to fix the results."

The results of the PEC and its equivalent Ebtedayee examinations were published with a 95.18 per cent pass rate in the PEC and 92.94 per cent in the Ebtedayee exams on 30 December.
