Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday morning conducted a raid in a reported militant hideout in Pashchim Nakhalpara area, near prime minister’s office, in the capital.

RAB officials said gunshots were heard from the spot and meanwhile, a bomb disposal team of the elite force reached there.

The elite force officials said they began the operation at a building, suspected as a ‘militant hideout’, around 2:00am.

Militants were throwing grenades at the members of RAB during the raid, the officials claimed.

RAB’s media wing said the alleged militants were staying on the 4th floor of a 5th-storey building there.

Director of the RAB’s media wing Mufti Mahmud Khan said, “Gunshots were fired. There are casualties inside the building.”

“As grenades were thrown, entering into the building is not safe at this moment,” he added.

When asked whether there is any mastermind inside the house, Mufti said, “We don’t have such information right now.”
