‘Robber’ killed in Lakshmipur ‘gunfight’

gunfightA suspected robber was shot dead in a reported gunfight between two groups of robbers in Berirmatha area in Char Shahi union of Lakshmipur early Wednesday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Jabed Mintu, member of inter-district robbery gang and son of Hossian Ahmed, a resident of Itkhola village of the union, said police.

Two gangs of robbers got into a dispute over sharing of the money which triggered a gunfight, leaving Mintu bullet-hit, said Chandraganj police station officer-in-charge Mokter Hossain.

On information about firing at a garden from locals, police rushed to the spot, rescued injured robber and sent him to sadar hospital where doctors declared him dead, police official said.

Police, however, recovered one Light Gun, eight rounds of bullets and 10 shells of bullets from the spot.

Mintu was accused in 18 different criminal cases, including four robbery ones, informed the OC.
