Over 165,000 cases pending with tribunals for women: Law Minister

Over 165,000 cases are pending with women and children repression prevention tribunals across the country, law minister Anisul Huq informed parliament on Wednesday.

“As of 31 December 2017, the total number of cases under trial in the women and children repression prevention tribunals across Bangladesh is 165,550,” he said replying to a question of Awami League MP Didarul Alam (Chittagong-4).

Of the cases, 44,546 are in Dhaka division, while 43,030 in Chittagong, 16,128 in Rajshahi, 19,138 in Khulna, 10,163 in Barisal, 11,807 in Sylhet and 20,738 in Rangpur division, the minister said, reports UNB.

Anisul said the government has given approval to constitute 41 more women and children repression prevention tribunals for the quick disposal of cases.
