A Sirajganj court on Wednesday sentenced two people to life time imprisonment for killing a young man in Ullapara upazila in 2007.
The convicts are Lavu Pramanik, 28, son of a certain Golam Mostafa of Satbaria village in the upazila, and Abu Sayeed, 27, son of one Anwar Mollah of the same village.
The court of Sirajganj district and session’s judge Sheikh Merina Sultana pronounced the verdict, reports UNB.
She awarded them three years’ imprisonment on another count for trying to conceal the body and fined them Tk 2,000 each.
Assistant public prosecutor advocate Samsul Alam said police recovered the body of the youth, Ashraf Ali, 20, from the bank of the Fuljhar river at Charghatina of Ullapara municipality on 14 November 2007.
A case was filed against five unidentified people over the murder, he said.
Three accused were acquitted as the allegation brought against them could not be proved, said the APP.
