Khaleda verdict copy likely to be issued tomorrow

The certified copy of the verdict on the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case may be issued and handed over to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's lawyers by Monday, the court on Sunday informed her lawyer Sanaullah Miah. 

Justice Akhtaruzzaman of the special judge court-5 stated this when asked by Sanaullah Miah in court at 11am on Sunday, according to a court official. 

Former prime minister Khaleda Zia on 8 February was convicted and sentenced to five years' imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, which was filed during the army-backed interim government in 2008.

Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Abdur Rezzak Khan, after meeting her along with others on 10 February, told the media that she has instructed them to file an appeal as soon as the copy of the verdict was made available as well as to seek bail.
