4 held over Shengen visa fraud

Police arrested four people involved in Shengen visa forgery in Dhaka's Uttara area on Monday.

Joint commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s detective branch Abdul Baten in a press briefing held at its office on Tuesday said policemen arrested the four in possession of instrument of making fake visas.

Police also seized 14 Bangladeshi passports with Shengen visa, fake bank statements, fake invitation papers to obtain Cyprus visa, bank guarantee letters, computers, monitors, scanners and printers, from their possession as well, he added.

The arrestees are Ziaul Haque aka Jewel, Md Zakaria Mahamud, Md Mahbubur Rahman and Md Mamun Hossain.

They have embezzled a huge amount of money in the name of sending people to Shengen countries and Cyprus over the years.

The four have been sent to the court, the police official added.
