An officer-in-charge (OC) of Damurhuda police station was withdrawn to Chuadanga district’s police lines on Monday following various allegations including taking bribe from drug traders.

Several allegations were filed against OC Akram Hossain including taking bribe from a listed drug peddler of Darshana promising not to arrest him, said officials at the police station said.

Quoting the officials, a UNB report says, the OC also helped the drug trader to flee away from the area.

Following the allegations, Akram was withdrawn to district police lines on Monday night around 11:00pm, said Mahbubur Rahman, superintendent of Chuadanga police.

A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident, he added.
