Investigation begins on Ekramul’s killing: Kamal

Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday said a probe team led by a magistrate began investigation into the recent killing of former president of Teknaf Upazila Juba League and ward councilor Ekramul Haque.

“The ministry received the audio recordings of the killing of municipal councilor Ekramul Huq,” he told newsmen after an anti-drug rally on Stamford University campus at Siddheswari in the capital.

Stamford University vice-chancellor Muhammad Ali Noki presided over the rally.

The minister said the anti-drug drive would be continued until drug abuse is controlled. He said a list of drug peddlers was prepared by different law enforcement agencies and the drive against drug abuse was being conducted by law enforcement agencies to eliminate the menace from the country.

The government is also working to build awareness among common people about drug abuse across the country. He said that public representatives, teachers, representatives of professional bodies, imams of mosques and other section of people are also working in this regard.

Kamal urged all section of people including pupils to come forward for building awareness against drug abuse in the country.
