Some leaders of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council, the platform of students that led the quota reform movement, were physically assaulted allegedly by some Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists in front of Dhaka University Central Library on Saturday, reports UNB.
BCL is the student wing of ruling Bangladesh Awami League aka AL.
The quota reform movement leaders came under attack when they were scheduled to hold their scheduled press conference to announce their fresh programme in front of the library.
Quota protesters and some witnesses alleged that some BCL activists suddenly swooped on the quota protesters.
At that time, they allegedly beat up Nurul Haq, joint convener of the council, leaving him injured.
Later, the BCL men drove out the quota reform demonstrators from the area and took position in front of the library on DU campus.
