Hallmark chairman gets 3-yr jail in ACC case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday sentenced Hallmark Group chairman Jesmin Islam to three years of imprisonment in a case filed for not submitting her wealth statement to the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Judge of Dhaka Special Judges Court-5 Md Akhtaruzzaman pronounced the verdict and asked Jesmin Islam to pay Tk 2 million as fine within 60 days, reports UNB.

Jasmine was present on the dock when the verdict was delivered.

On 13 November 2013, the ACC issued a notice to Jesmin Islam asking her to submit wealth statement.

Later, the watchdog filed the case against her with Ramna police station on 12 December 2013 as she did not submit the wealth statement.

On 22 October 2014, the ACC pressed charges against her.
