Advance train tickets for Eid from 8 August

Sale of advance train tickets ahead of Eid-ul-Azha will begin from 8 August for smooth travel of home-bound people, said railway minister Mujibul Haque.

Addressing a press conference at Rail Bhaban in the capital on Thursday, the minister said additional trains will operate during the Eid.

Train tickets will be sold from Dhaka and Chattogram stations and will continue till 12 August.

The minister said tickets will be sold from 8:00am from 26 counters including two for female passengers at Kamalapur railway station in Dhaka.

Tickets of 17 August will be sold on 8 August, tickets of 18 August on 9 August, tickets of 19 August on 10 August, tickets of 20 August on 11 August and tickets of 21 August on 12 August.

The return tickets will be sold from 15 August at Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat stations. 

Return tickets of 24 August will be sold on 15 August, tickets of 25 August on 16 August, tickets of 26 August on 17 August, tickets of 27 August on 18 August and tickets of 28 August on 19 August. 

Mujibul Haque said each passenger can buy a maximum of four tickets, and once sold, tickets can’t be returned. Measures have been taken to prevent sale of tickets in the black market, the minister added. 

Around 300,000 passengers can travel daily during the Eid while some 260,000 passengers travel daily other times of the year.
