The government on Tuesday ordered punitive actions against the persons responsible for the deaths of two students at the Airport Road two days ago, reports UNB.

“The government directed Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to take legal actions against the persons responsible for the tragic death of two students on Airport Road on Sunday,” a Prime Minister’s Office statement said.

The statement issued by the PMO’s press wing said the government also asked the BRTA and DMP to take actions as per the law against underage drivers and drivers without license in the public transports of the capital.

The directives came from a meeting of Road Transport and Highways Division, BRTA and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) and other related organizations with premier’s principal secretary Md Nojibur Rahman in the chair.

Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College, were killed as a Jabal-e-Noor bus ploughed through a crowd while competing with another bus of the same company on the Airport

Road on Sunday.
