Husband 'kills' wife after brawl over drug

A pregnant woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband in Phulsuti village in Nagarkanda, Faridpur on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The victim is Chaina Begum, 26, wife of Shohag Mollah of the village.

Syed Lutfur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Nagarkanda police station, said getting information of Chaina's illness, her relatives went to Chaina's house and found her dead body lying on the floor around 9:00am.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue.

Quoting family members, police said Shohagh Ali used to torture Chaina, a mother of a four-year old child, since their marriage as she prevented him from taking drugs.

Nannu Matobbar, brother of Chaina, claimed that Shohagh strangled Chaina sometime in the night following brawl over drug and left the scene to escape arrest.

A case was filed with Nagarkanda police station in connection with the death.
