Another 16 sued for instigating students

Police filed another case with Ramna police station accusing 16 social media users of instigating students during the week long street protests for road safety, news agency UNB reports.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the cybercrime unit under Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Ojoy Kumar Biswash filed the case with the police station under Section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology Act on Sunday, DMP deputy commissioner (Media)Masudur Rahman said on Sunday.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) of the case, the plaintiff alleged that provocative posts, writings and videos were uploaded through social media aiming to deteriorate the law and order situation.
Earlier, on 2 August, ASI Yeasin Meah filed a case with the same police station under Section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology Act accusing 29 social media users.
