Japan seeks safety of its nationals in Bangladesh

Visiting Japan foreign minister Taro Kono on Tuesday sought the safety of its nationals working in Bangladesh and a congenial environment for the Japanese investors, reports UNB.

The Japanese minister raised the safety issue at a bilateral meeting between Bangladesh and Japan at the state guesthouse Meghna in Dhaka.

Foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali and his Japanese counterpart Taro Kono led their respective sides at the meeting.

Kono said Japan wants to deepen its ties with Bangladesh and help achieve its long-term development goals.

During the bilateral meeting, Bangladesh and Japan agreed on the importance of stability in the region for building stronger economic partnership between the two countries and early realisation of safe and secure return of the Rohingyas is the key.
