Lalmonirhat road crash kills 3

Three people were killed as a speeding truck hit a rickshaw on Lalmanirhat-Burimari road in Shimanta Canteen area in the district town on Thursday night.

The deceased were Motaleb, 46, Zahangir, 42, both from Patgram upazila and staffs of sub-registry office and rickshaw puller Dulal Mia, 37, of Faringer Dighi area of the town.

The accident took place around 8:30pm when a goods-laden truck knocked the rickshaw from behind, leaving the three dead on the spot, said Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Lalmonirhat sadar police station.

On information, police detained the driver and seized the truck from Haribhanga area of the town immediately after the incident, the OC added.
