6-yr-old girl ‘raped’, 60-yr-old man arrested

A sexagenarian man was arrested from Satani Mathuradi area of Sherpur's Sreebardi on Friday allegedly for raping a minor girl, reports UNB.

The arrestee is Momin Miah, 60, son of late Azizul Haq of nearby Kalakanda. He used to work at a local restaurant as a worker.

Officer-in-charge of Sreebardi police station, Md Rezaul Haque, said the minor girl, aged around six, was playing near her house at noon when Momin took her to a nearby deserted house and raped her.

Hearing victim's screams, locals rescued her but the 'rapist' managed to flee.

Later, agitated people caught him and handed him over to police, the OC said, adding that that Momin confessed to his crime.
