At least 50 passengers of a bus were injured after it plunged into a ditch by Cumilla-Sylhet highway in Ramrail Bazar area of Brahmanbaria early Saturday.

The bus with 60 passengers from Rupganj of Narayanganj started for Kharampur Takalla Shaheed Mazar in Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria on Thursday morning, said police.

The bus plunged into a ditch after the driver lost control over the steering while returning from the Kharampur Takalla Shaheed Mazar, police said.

The injured were rushed to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital while a certain Aynal Mia, whose condition was critical, was sent to Dhaka.

The driver of the bus and his assistants also sustained injuries in the accident.

Most of the passengers were from Atlapur, Faiska and Darichaitta village of Rupganj upazilla.

Brahmanbaria traffic police inspector Ahmed Nur said they were processing to file a case in this connection.
