Road crashes kill four in 3 dists

At least four people were killed and 18 others injured in separate road accidents in Natore, Naogaon and Dinajpur districts on Monday, reports UNB.

In Natore, a bus driver named Azad was killed and 16 passengers were injured following a head-on collision between a bus and a covered van on Bonpara- Hatikumrul road in Hansmara area of Gurudashpur upazila in the morning.

JM Shamsun Nur, officer-in-charge of Bonpara highway police station, said the accident took place as the Meherpur-bound bus collided with the covered-van, leaving the bus driver dead on the spot and 16 passengers injured.

In Naogaon, driver of a tractor, Akhtar Hossain, 55, son of Rahim Uddin of Kubratoli village in Raninagar upazila was crushed under the wheels of his tractor around 11:30am as he fell down under the wheels while trying to avoid collision with a three-wheeler in Nagar Bridge area.

The body was sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Siddiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Raninagar police station.

In Dinajpur, a Mahespur bound tractor hit few workers at a jute mill yard killing one on the spot and injuring two others as its driver lost control over the steering.

The deceased Afsar Ali, 40, is son of Sawkat Ali of Mahespur village.

After the accident at 8:00am, agitated workers blocked the Birol-Pakunda port road for over an hour.

Meanwhile, in Chirirbandar upazila, a cattle trader was fell off a human-hauler as its driver pushed the break hard and crushed under a truck on Dinajpur-Rangpur highway in Sahapara area around 1:00pm.
The deceased Akbar Ali, 48, is son of Aser Uddin of Guapara village in sadar upazila.

The body was handed over to victim's family, said Abdul Malek, officer-in-charge of Dasmile highway police station.
