Ruling Bangladesh Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday alleged that failing to wage popular movement, the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is ‘hatching conspiracy to foil’ the next parliamentary polls.

Also road transport and bridges minister, he, however, expressed determination to foil such conspiracy through politics under the leadership of prime minister and AL chief Sheikh Hasina.

Quader came up with the allegations at a preparatory meeting for observing the national mourning day on 15 August (Wednesday) at his constituency of Companiganj in Noakhali.

“We are carrying out development works. You stay engaged with the people,” he told the AL leaders and workers.

He warned that if any party activist is engaged in irregularities, the party’s relations with him or her would be severed.

Local leaders of the party were present at the gathering.
