A day after her arrest for spreading rumours on Facebook over the recent student movement for road safety, female entrepreneur Faria Mahjabin was placed on a three-day remand on Friday in a case filed over the incident, reports UNB.

Metropolitan magistrate AKM Mainuddin Siddiqui passed the order after sub-inspector Majedul Islam of Hazaribagh police station, also the investigation officer of the case, produced her before his court seeking a seven-day remand.

There was no lawyer in favour of Faria during the hearing.

Faria is the owner of Nerdy Bean Coffee Haus in Dhanmondi, said sub-inspector Asadur Rahman, duty officer of the police station.

Earlier, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested her from the city’s Dhanmondi area on Thursday night for instigating the recent student movement for road safety through uploading provocative audio clips and posting status and false photos on Facebook.

Tipped off, a team of RAB-2 raided a flat at Hazi Afsar Uddin Road of West Dhanmondi and arrested Faria, said senior ASP (Media) Md Robiul Islam of the RAB-2 Battalion.

During preliminary interrogation, Faria confessed that she had shared some provocative audio clips from her mobile phone to divert the student movement to a different direction and deteriorate the law and order situation, he claimed.

The elite force also recovered her personal mobile phone set, a print copy of her Facebook profile and an audio clip.

Later, inspector Badiuzzaman of Mohammadpur RAB-2 camp filed a case with Hazaribagh police station accusing two women—Faria and Zannatul Noor.
