Fakhrul’s statement tantamount to treason: Quader

Ruling Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s call to make the country 'independent' is tantamount to treason.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is conspiring to create unstable situation through irresponsible speeches, he told a rally on “Terrorism and Militancy” in front of AL office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.

Dhaka city units (North and South) of AL jointly organised the rally.

Joint secretary of AL Jahangir Kabir Nanak, organiaing secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, MP and office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, among others, addressed the rally with president of Dhaka City (South) Unit of AL Abul Hasnat in the chair.

Quader urged the people to be united under the leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina to thwart all sorts of conspiracies of BNP. The people of the country will resist any conspiracy of BNP to topple the Awami League government, he added.
