Minor girl ‘raped’ in Chattogram

A minor girl was allegedly raped by a young man in Lalkhan Bazar of Khulshi in Chattogram city on Sunday, reports UNB.

Police arrested the alleged rapist, Mohammad Harun, 26, a resident of a slum in Lalkhan Bazar area.

Officer-in-charge of Khulshi police station Nasir Uddin said Harun picked up the girl while she was walking along the road in the area and took her behind a rickshaw garage where he raped her.

Hearing victim's screams, locals rescued the child and caught Harun from the spot, he said.

After a mob beating, Harun was handed over to police, the OC said.

The victim was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as she was bleeding profusely, said assistant sub-inspector of CMCH police camp Alauddin Talukdar.
