Supervisor on 4-day remand for ‘rape’ in bus

A Tangail court on Tuesday granted a 4-day remand for supervisor of a bus who along with two other accomplices allegedly raped a disabled woman passenger in a moving bus near Ibrahimabad rail station at Bhuapur area in the district, reports UNB.

Tangail senior judicial magistrates court judge Ashikuzzaman passed the order.

The accused Ershad Ali was arrested from his house in Benukursia area in Kalihati upazila on Sunday night, said court inspector Anwarul Islam.

On 30 August, supervisor and the driver and his assistant allegedly raped the girl on the Bangabandhu Bridge-Dhaka highway around 11:30 pm after all other passengers of the bus got down from different stoppages.

After hearing the scream of the girl, a Highway Police patrol team ran onto the spot, rescued the girl and arrested Nazmul, he added.

At that time, bus driver Alam Mia and supervisor, Ershad managed to flee.
