Committee formed to bring Dhaka bus services under one company

The government has formed a 10-member committee with DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon as its convener as part of its plan to bring bus service operation under one company and bus route rationalisation.

The plan is aimed at bringing discipline in Dhaka’s public transport sector and reducing traffic congestion.

Local government, rural development and cooperative ministry issued a gazette in this regard on Monday.

The other members of the committee are panel mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation, chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk), police commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, transport expert SM Saleh Uddin, general secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association, president of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation and executive director of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority.
