25 gold bars seized at Dhaka airport

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized 25 gold bars weighing around 2.5 kilograms from the cargo section of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday night, according to UNB.

Officials of the CIID said that a gold consignment was brought from Singapore by a flight of Singapore Airlines around 10:40pm and it was kept hidden inside a carton at the cargo section of the airport, said CIID director general Shahidul Islam.

Based on the information, a CIID team identified one suspected carton and brought it to the baggage belt area and then recovered 25 gold bars from the carton in the presence of other agencies, he said.
