Man killed in 'gunfight' with RAB

A man has been killed in an alleged gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Jorarganj police station area of Mirsarai in Chittagong.

The identity of the deceased couldn't be known immediately.

The incident took place at 7:00am on Thursday.

RAB claimed a foreign pistol, 600 bottles of phensydil and a microbus were seized from the spot.

Commander of Chittagong RAB-7 lieutenant Mistahuddin Ahmed said a patrol team of RAB signaled two microbuses to stop on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Defying the signal, the microbus speeded away. Persons from another microbus got down and opened fire abruptly targeting RAB members. RAB also retaliated prompting them to flee.

Later, RAB recovered a body from the spot.

RAB claimed the man died from the bullets fired by the miscreants.

RAB is trying to identify of the deceased.
