Mentally-challenged woman 'raped' in Thakurgaon

Police arrested a man in Thakurgaon's Baliadangi upazila on Monday allegedly for raping a mentally-challenged housewife, reports UNB.

The arrestee was Abedul Haque, 40, son of late Tepa Mohammad of Kabirajpara of the upazila.

Victim's husband Hamidul Islam said he went to visit a neighbouring house on Sunday when Abedul entered his house and raped his mentally-challenged wife.

He filed a rape case with the Baliadangi police station on Monday morning.

ABM Sajedul Islam, officer-in-charge of Baliadangi police station, said the victim was sent to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital for medical test.

Meanwhile, Abedul was sent to jail through a court, the OC added.
