A suspected drug trader sustained bullet injuries in a reported gunfight between two groups of drug traders at Tilakpur Burapukur in Akkelpur upazila early in Joypurhat Sunday, reports UNB.

The injured is Ohidul, son of Kachim Uddin of Roynagar village in the upazila and accused in seven drug-related cases.

Hearing gunshots, a patrol team of police went to the spot, said Kiran Kumar Roy, officer-in-charge of Akkelpur police station.

Sensing the presence of police, the drug traders fled away.

Later, police found Ohidul in bullet-hit condition and took him to Joypurhat modern hospital.

The police team also recovered a pistol, one round bullet and 47 bottles of Phensidyl from the spot.

The law enforcement’s versions of the events, however, could not be verified independently as no versions of the incidents were available immediately either from any witness or from the victim’s family.
