A Chattogram court on Sunday scrapped the bail of BNP standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in a case filed under the ICT Act and sent him to jail, reports UNB.

Chattogram metropolitan session judge Akbar Hossain Mridha passed the order after rejecting his bail petition, said public prosecutor (PP) Md Fakhruddin Chowdhury.

Earlier, the High Court granted anticipatory bail to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Amir Khosru in two separate cases filed in Dhaka and Chattogram.

After expiry of bail on 7 October, the Chattogram court extended his bail until 21 October.

He was sued on charges of hatching conspiracy against state and plotting subversive activities.

Chattogram city unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) acting general secretary Zakaria Dastagir filed the case under sections 57 (2) of ICT Act and 15 (3) of Special Power Act with Kotwali police station on 4 August.

A reported audio clip of telephonic conversation between the BNP leader and an unknown boy for intensifying the student movement, erupted after the death of two students in a road accident in the capital, went viral on Facebook and YouTube.
