Disqualification of war criminals’ children in polls demanded

Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to chief election commissioner (CEC) K M Nurul Huda demanding five-point including the disqualification of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and war criminals’ children in the 11th parliamentary elections.

Nirmul Committee president Shariar Kabir submitted the memorandum to the CEC at a meeting at Nirbachan Bhaban (election building) in the capital.

Earlier, a meeting was held between the CEC and the members of the Nirmul Committee.

Former justices Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Nizamul Haque, freedom fighter Alamgir Sattar, security expert retired major general Mohammad Abdur Rashid, professor Muntasir Mamun, Shaheed Dr Alim Chowdhury’s widow Shyamoli Nasrin Chowdhury, Kazi Mukul, barrister Nadia Chowdhury and EC secretary Helaluddin Ahmed, among others, were present in the meeting.

After the meeting, Shahriar Kabir told newsmen that they demanded to the election commission for taking steps in this regard.
