Youth sentenced to life imprisonment in rape case

A tribunal in Narayanganj on Monday sentenced a young man to life imprisonment for raping a minor girl at Singarpur village of Araihazar upazila in 2012, reports UNB.

The convict is Sumon Miah, 30, son of Rustam Ali of the village.

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge Md Shahin Uddin delivered the verdict.

According to the prosecution, Sumon raped the minor girl from his neighbourhood on 6 June 2012.

Victim's father filed a case with Araihazar police station over the matter.
