Fishermen caught a giant Jew fish (locally known as Poa) weighing 34.5 kg from the Saint Martin's channel in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday, reports UNB.

Abdul Goni, a local fisherman along with two others, went to the Bay of Bengal to catch fish on Tuesday and netted the huge Jew fish from Fuler Kup area, one and half kilometres away from the Saint Martin's island, said Teknaf upazila fisheries officer Delwar Hossain.

Ishaq, a businessman of Maheshkhali, bought the fish for Tk 800,000.

The businessman said the fish will be exported to Hong Kong as the lung of the fish has huge demand there and also the price is high.

Meanwhile, locals from different parts of the upazila thronged at the island to have a look at the fish.
