Clash over land injures 10 in Rangpur

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two groups of indigenous people over a piece of disputed land at Baldipakur Balapara village in Rangpur’s Mithapakur upazila on Friday, reports UNB.

Six people with arrow injuries were admitted to Mithapakur Upazila Health Complex and the Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment, said Ashequre Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mithapakur police station.

Police and locals said there had been longstanding enmity between Shukendra Kuzur and his nephew Nanda Kuzur over the ownership of a piece of land.

When Shukendra along with his associates went to the disputed land for harvesting paddy around 9:00am, Nanda with the help of locals resisted them that triggered the clash, leaving 10 people from both the parties injured.

Being informed police went to the spot and brought the situation under control, he added.
