EC warns officials against bias in conducting polls

Election commissioner Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury on Saturday warned the election officials of stern action if they were found to be biased in conducting the forthcoming 11th national elections, reports UNB.

“Neutrality is very important for all elections including this one,” said Shahadat Hossain while speaking at a training programme at the Nirbachan Trainning Bhaban in Agargaon of the capital.

"We want you to maintain neutrality irrespective of party and views. If any allegations or questions are raised about your neutrality, the election commission will take action. If the investigation finds the allegations true, strict action will be taken," he added.

"No one will be spared on the question of neutrality," the commissioner said.

"This election will be an inclusive and competitive. To make this election fair, you have to ensure that every candidate has equal opportunity," he added.

He requested the election officials to perform their duty with neutrality and professionalism by undergoing the training properly.

He said, "The current EC is committed do everything necessary to make the election fair, neutral and credible. It is essential to hold a fair election for the future of the country. People expect that a government can be formed through a free and fair election which will take the country ahead."
