Jatiya Oikya Front, led by eminent jurist Kamal Hossain, wants to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on 10 December, ahead of the 11th parliamentary elections, reports UNB.

On behalf of the Oikya Front, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the plan at a press conference at the party's Naya Paltan central office on Thursday.

"Jatiya Oikya Front will organise a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on 10 December (Monday)," he said.

Rizvi said the rally, scheduled to begin at 2:00pm, will be addressed by senior leaders of the Oikya Front.

Jatiya Oikya Front is a coalition of the oppositions, including the country’s principal opposition party the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

He said they have already sent separate letters to Suhrawardy Udyan authorities and Dhaka Metropolitan Police seeking permission to hold the rally.

On 6 November, Oikya Front held a rally at the same place to mobilise public support in favour of the alliance's various demands.

On 13 October, the BNP together with Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, JSD and Nagorik Oikya launched the Jatiy Oikya Front to press for their seven-point demand. Later, Abdul Kader Siddiqui-led Krishak Sramik Janata League joined the alliance.
