SUST teacher dismissed for harassing female student

Authorities of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on Saturday dismissed a teacher of the university for harassing a female student sexually, reports UNB.

The accused teacher is assistant professor Plaban Chandra Saha of Economics department.

The girl, who was harassed by Plaban Chandra Saha, has been suspended for two years from the university.

The decision was taken at the 211th syndicate meeting of the university, said an official, wising not to disclose identity.

The meeting also decided not to give promotion to associate professor Mohammad Masud Sarker of Political Studies department in the next four years for signature forgery.

At the syndicate meeting on 15 October, the SUST authorities suspended Plaban, also assistant proctor of the department, from the administrative duties on the charge.

Wishing anonymity, several syndicate members confirmed the development.
