India prisoner dies in Jashore jail

An Indian citizen accused in a gold smuggling case died of cardiac arrest at Jashore Central Jail on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Sanzid Bharma, 48, son of Mahindar Bharma of New Delhi.

Jailer Abu Taleb of Jashore Central Jail said, Sanzid was suffering from cardiac disease.

"When Sanzid felt chest pain around 2:00 pm on Tuesday, the jail authorities took him to Jashore General Hospital, but he died on the way to the hospital," said the jailer.

On 2 December 2017, Benapole Port Police sent Sanzid to the central jail in the gold smuggling case.

Meanwhile, Indian authorities have been informed about his death, said the jailer.
