The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Thursday asked all the mobile phone operators to suspend the 3G and 4G data services across the country ahead of Sundays' election, according to UNB.

The move came following instructions from the election commission to slow down the mobile internet speed.
The BTRC sent a letter to the mobile phone companies asking them to implement the directive immediately, said a number of operators.
As per the letter, the directive will remain in force until further notice.
Contacted, managing director of state-owned Teletalk Md Shahab Uddin confirmed UNB around 11:00pm that they had received such a letter from the telecom regulator a little while ago.
