Another poll violence victim dies

A local Awami League leader, who sustained injuries during a clash between Awami League and BNP activists in Godagari, Rajshahi on Sunday, died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital early Monday, reports UNB.

The deceased was Ismail Hossain, 50, son of Azhar Ali and a resident of Dhomorpur Kajihata area in Deopara union of the upazila and was convener of ward No.3 Awami League election committee.

AbdurRazzak, officer-in-charge of Godagari model police station, said that Ismail sustained injuries during a clash between AL-BNP men at Lalpur-Dhomorpur School and College polling centre around 12:00pm.

Later, he was admitted to ICU of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the early morning.

Earlier, two local Awami League leaders were killed in election violence in Tanore and Mohonpur upazilas on Sunday.
