Man found dead near Bangladesh-India border

Police recovered body of a man from the bank of Nagor river near the Dabori borderarea in Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The law enforcement officials said the body of Nizarul Islam, 35, bore some injury marks.

It was unclear though whether he was a victim of border killing.

Abdul Hamid, chairman of Gedua union parishad, said he had heard that the India’s Border Security Force killed Nizarul and dumped his body in Bangladesh.

But Thakurgaon BGB-50 commander lieutenant colonel Tuhin Mohammad Masud disagreed. He said he was not sure if the man was killed by the BSF.

"He might be a victim of infighting or someone might have killed him and dropped his body in the bordering area," Tuhin said. "We are investigating the incident."
