Oikya Front leaders to visit Noakhali rape victim

Opposition coalition Jatiya Oikya Front leaders will visit Subarnachar rape victim in Noakhali Saturday.

The Oikya Front leaders, led by BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, is scheduled to start their journey for Noakhali from BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office around 7:00am, BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar told UNB on Friday.

He said Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rob) president ASM Abdur Rob, Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna and some BNP senior leaders will accompany Fakhrul.

They are scheduled to reach Noakhali General Hospital by 12:30pm where the victim is undergoing treatment.

Later, they will exchange views with local lawyers at Noakhali Bar Association office at 3:00pm.

In the early hours of Monday last, a 40-year-old woman and mother of four, was raped by a group of people.

According to the victim’s husband, a group of hoodlums stormed into their house and tied up all the family members except his wife.

Later, they took the woman outside the house at gunpoint where they raped her in turns for casting her vote for ‘sheaf of paddy’, the victim’s husband claimed.

With the help of neighbours, the victim was taken to hospital on Monday noon and a case was filed against nine people over the incident.
