A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, BNP candidate for Shariatpur-3 in 30-December election, on a five-day remand in a case filed over the recovery of Tk 80 million from Motijheel, reports UNB.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansari passed the order after Criminal Investigation Department (CID) inspector Ashraful Islam, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Apu before his court seeking a 10-day remand, said general recording officer of the court sub-inspector Jalal Uddin.

Earlier on 4 January, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested Mia Nuruddin Apu from the city's United Hospital over the money recovery before the national election.

The money was meant for distributing among voters to influence the national election, RAB had claimed.

The RAB-2 filed a case with Motijheel police station over the money recovery.
