BCL leader stabbed at RU

A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League of Rajshahi University unit was stabbed by some local youths on the university campus on Sunday night over previous enmity, reports UNB.

The injured BCL leader is Imtiaz Ahmed, a fourth year student of Arabic Department and organising secretary of RU BCL unit.

Witnesses said when Imtiaz along with BCL vice-president Golam Sarwar was taking food in a shop adjacent to Bangabandhu Hall, several outsiders swooped on Imtiaz and stabbed on his neck.

The BCL men managed to catch one Romel when the attackers were fleeing the scene.

Later, the BCL leaders took Romel to the guest room of the hall and beat him up.

Later, vice chancellor and other officials of the university rushed in and police rescued Romel.

The injured BCL leader is undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and injured Romel, an evening masters student of Management department, is also undergoing treatment there, said police.

Earlier, Imtiaz locked into an altercation with some local youths over hitting a young man with his motorcycle at Kajla gate area of the university in the evening.
