Voting in Gaibandha-3 constituency underway

Voting in the Gaibandha-3 (Sadullapur-Palashbari) constituency for the 11th parliament began on Sunday morning, reports UNB.

The balloting has started at 8:00am and will continue till 4:00pm uninterruptedly.

Earlier, the election commission postponed the balloting in the constituency after the sudden death of Jatiya Oikyo Front candidate TIM Fazley Rabbi Chowdhury on 19 December 19, before the national elections held on 30 December.

The election commission rescheduled the polls date to the constituency for 27 January.

However, no untoward incident was reported till filling of this report around 11:00 am.

A total of 411,854 voters are expected to cast their votes through 132 voting centres with 786 booths in the constituency.

Five candidates are contesting to the constituency for the 11th parliament.

A total 2,500 law enforcers, 20 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh and Rapid Action Battalion each and 1,584 Ansar members have been deployed to maintain law and order in the constituency.
