The Anti-Corruption Commission constituted a committee to investigate three years' stay in jail of Jahalam who was not the real accused in graft case.

The ACC chairman, Iqbal Mahmud, 'disclosed' this on Monday hours after the release of wrongly detained young man from Kashimpur central jail.

Action will be taken if any negligence on the part of the ACC investigation officers, is found, the ACC chief said.

Jahalam was implicated in 33 graft cases which were actually filed against one Salek, and the former had been in jail for three years until the matter was brought to public attention and the High Court intervened.

An ACC director with the rank of district judge will lead the committee to investigate Jahalam case, Iqbal Mahmud added.

Jahalam was released from jail early Monday following a High Court order. He walked out from Kashimpur prison-2 at 1:00am.

The High Court on Sunday issued the order to release Jahalam and reprimanded the ACC authorities for the unfortunate jailing of an innocent person.

Jail superintendent Subrata Kumar Bala said his release papers reached the jail on Sunday night. After scrutinising the papers and completing formalities, Jahalam was freed.

Upon his release, Jahalam expressed his griavances against the ACC and demanded compensation for his undue suffering in jail.
